Borough Green to Sevenoaks

Where was everyone? We met Joy at Victoria and were overjoyed when Margaret Hyde found us on the train to make four.

The weather maintained its gloom but the rain held off and gave us good views of Kent including oasthouses aplenty; orchards for scrumping… magnificent trees in their ancient estates (Fairlawne and Knole); many old timbered building and in particular Ightham Mote. On our way we were treated to a potted history of the Cromwellian Plaxtol Church prior to the morning service .

And a very warm welcome received at the quirky Padwell Arms – good beer and ample portions.
