Hambleden

Many thanks Martin for an excellent walk through Chiltern paths, beech woods, and the charming village of Hambleden.
Pub was very good too. Nice people who coped well with dropping my soup!

either M 40 or M 4. No train option.
M 40 recommended, just over an hour. At Junction 4 take the A 404 towards High Wycombe, Marlow. After about 2 miles take the A4155 through Marlow towards Hambleden. As you arrive in Hambleden take a left to Skirmett Road Car park. A secure park, approx £6. Payable by card or cash.

his is a circular walk around the quintessential English village of Hambleden, Henley on Thames. Hambleden is not on the river Thames and the walk was not actually flooded at the latest recce. Special features of the walk are as follows: numerous red kites, snowdrops. We pass by the Hamble brook - a chalk stream - and along sections of Shakespeare Way and The Chiltern Way. The former route invented by Peter Titchmarsh in 2006 runs from Stratford upon Avon to the Globe Theatre in London.
Grand vistas and wonderful views over rolling countryside. Otherwise, pathways through thick beech woods on chalk pathways and open countryside with sunlight dappled trees.
We will pass by a mediaeval roundhouse and a cut granite facade to a Jacobean country mansion. We will be blessed with some light aircraft, but otherwise, there is no noise at all except from the kites. The walk contains a few gradients with some pockets of mud, but overall quite easy and passable. Poles and boots advised.
