South Downs, Amberley, Burpham.

Joy, Stephen and I enjoyed the longest and hottest day of the yar today, crossing the South Downs with views of wild flowers. We ate well in the George and returned along the river Arun.
Sorry so few could make it. We missed you.
Returning in an air-conditioned train, we felt enjoyably chilly!
Best wishes

train from Victoria at 8.35 or Clapham Junction at 8.42, arriving Amberley 9.58

Returns are at 16.18, 16.48, 17.18 and 17.48

Better by train but if you want to drive and need help with the route please contact Andy.

Route:

A traditional South Downs June walk. This will be a different route again from last times across the downs to Burpham, returning by downs or riverside, according to conditions and pace. Some gentle ups and downs, but nothing steep, few stiles, good chance of skylarks and poppies

Lunch:

The George at Burpham. https://www.georgeatburpham.co.uk/

Food does not need to be pre-ordered but the pub would like numbers. So please email Andy on aduguid@btopenworld.com by June 14 to tell him if you are planning to go. (As food is a bit pricey, there is the alternative of taking your sandwich to very nearby park bench.) it would be possible to take a taxi back to,the station from the pub after lunch.
