South Downs Plumpton to Sothease
This was the perfect summer walk 10 good compions, warm breezes that wrapped around you, glittering views of the sea, climbs up yo the top of the downs not too steep but enough to remind one of 'anno domini' andfriendly efficient pub

8:47 London Victoria to Plumpton, first four carriages probably from Platform 18
1609 or 1709 Southease to London Victoria with change at Lewes Platform 2.
Should be possible to buy a Southease return but check at the ticket office.
No Freedom Pass restrictions on Sunday
a.m. On the flat for the first two miles then a steep climb up the escarpment of the South Downs.
p.m. Steady climb to the South Downs Way with 360 degree views of southern England and occasional glimpses of the Channel. Slow descent crossing the River Ouse to Southease halt.

Bring-your-own-foodies may cross the footbridge over the A27 and picnic beside the duck pond in Falmer village – a typical Sussex spot.
