by car on A3. Drive past Guildford and 5 miles further on take the A283 to Petworth.Drive through Milford and Witley to Chiddingfold. Journey time – allow 90mins.

By train. Check train and bus times. Possibility of train from Waterloo to

Witley leaving at 07.45. and arriving at Witley 08.42. A 2 mile walk from Witley station to Chiddingfold.

Or trains from Waterloo to Guildford and then bus to Chiddingfold.

Route: 

A downland and wooded walk that will be muddy in places on the bridleways.

Sturdy footwear strongly advised. We pass through wild flower woods and ancient forested land. Three steepish inclines. Time permitting we shall take a short pause at the 13C St Mary’s and All Saints church in Dunsfold.

Points of Interest about Chiddingfold:

The Crown pub is one of the oldest in England which claims to have been established in 1285 and was built as a rest house for Cistercian monks on their pilgrimage from Winchester to Canterbury.

St Mary’s Church. Original church on site dated back to c 978 AD
Chiddingfold is well known for its annual Guy Fawkes bonfire and fireworks display held on the village green.

Between 14th and 17th century it was a centre for glassmaking.
